Good to know

Everything you need for a confident start.

Whether this is your first tattoo or you already know the studio well, these answers explain what to expect and how to prepare.

Ideas & consultations

Do I need a finished tattoo design?

No. A rough idea, a subject, a preferred style or a few reference images are enough to begin. Your artist can help shape those starting points into artwork suited to you.

How much will my tattoo cost?

The price depends on the size, detail, placement and time involved. The team can give you clearer guidance once they understand the design and have assessed the work required.

Can you cover or rework an existing tattoo?

Yes. Send clear, well-lit photographs of the existing tattoo and the surrounding skin. A consultation may be needed to discuss what can be achieved and which design directions will work best.

Can you tattoo over a scar?

It depends on the scar and how fully it has healed. The studio will need to assess the area before advising whether tattooing it is suitable.

Appointments

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Get a good night's sleep, eat beforehand, stay hydrated and arrive with clean skin. Avoid alcohol and do not attend while intoxicated. Follow any specific preparation advice sent by your artist.

What should I bring with me?

Bring valid photo identification and any appointment information the team has requested. Wear comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed or pierced.

How old must I be to get a tattoo?

You must be at least 18 to be tattooed in the UK. The studio may ask for valid photographic identification before beginning any work.

Can I bring someone with me?

Studio space and appointment requirements can vary, so please check with the team before bringing a friend or family member.

Piercing

Do I need to book a piercing appointment?

Availability can change from day to day. Call the studio before travelling so the team can confirm the best time for your piercing.

What are the age and ID requirements?

Requirements can differ depending on the piercing. Contact the studio before your visit to confirm the photographic ID and, where relevant, parental consent you will need.

What jewellery will be used?

Your piercer will recommend jewellery appropriate for the placement and initial healing. They can explain the available options during your visit.

Aftercare

How do I care for a new tattoo?

Your artist will give you aftercare guidance suited to your tattoo. Keep the area clean, avoid picking or scratching it, and follow those instructions throughout healing.

How do I care for a new piercing?

Follow the cleaning and care instructions given by your piercer. Avoid unnecessary touching and do not change the jewellery before the piercer advises that it is ready.

What if I am worried about healing?

Contact the studio if you are unsure about your tattoo or piercing aftercare. For urgent symptoms or medical concerns, seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
